Auckland Council developed a new public park with sports facilities at Scott Point, and the design called for finishes that reflected the heritage and wetland surroundings. By Design Concrete and Paving delivered a demanding palette of decorative concrete finishes, from rock salt and exposed aggregate to sandblasted native bird motifs, colour-matched to the neighbouring mudflats.
Accessible swales run through the footpaths, and highly detailed finishes were combined with high-strength structural concrete. On a live civil site beside a wetland and a school, daily toolbox meetings and careful coordination kept the work safe and clean, with a near-lost rock salt finish taught to the team by an experienced concrete manager.
