Welcome to our new CEO!
Welcome to our new CEO!
From the Chair
I am delighted to share the news of Rachel Louie’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer following an extensive recruitment process that attracted over 230 applicants nationwide. Rachel will commence her CEO role on 1 February.
The Board was impressed by Rachel’s depth of experience in member-led organisations, her resilience as a leader, and her clear commitment to delivering value for members. We believe she brings the right balance of practical insight, empathy, and strategic focus to support our members and help the Association continue to grow and strengthen its industry connections. I look forward to working closely with Rachel and encourage members to join me in welcoming her to RML.
In addition to having a BMS (First Class Honours), majoring in Marketing and International Management, Rachel brings more than 20 years of leadership experience, including leading her family business through periods of growth, governance, and later navigating the challenges of receivership. This experience has shaped a strong sense of resilience and transparency, equipping her to lead thoughtfully under pressure, make sound strategic decisions, and support people through change.
She has experience working within member-led organisations through her active involvement with the National Kitchen & Bathroom Association (NKBA), where she worked closely with members and industry suppliers, supporting the Association as a supplier through education, marketing and consumer awareness. This has given her a practical understanding of how associations can deliver meaningful value to members, supported by strong industry partnerships.
Rachel also has a longstanding commitment to the not-for-profit sector, including leadership roles within a community-based martial arts organisation focused on member engagement and good governance. The Board believes Rachel’s member-focused leadership will strongly support RML’s continued growth.
Quote from Rachel Louie:
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Registered Master Landscapers and to have the opportunity to lead the only professional landscaping association in New Zealand. With the landscaping industry enhancing the environments where New Zealanders live, work, and gather, I’m passionate about supporting our members in continuing to lift standards and build strong industry connections.
I also want to acknowledge and sincerely thank Janet Clarke for her outstanding stewardship as Acting CEO — she’s handing over the baton with a strong base and I look forward to working with her in her continued role as Chair. Finally, congratulations to Sarah Judge on her formal appointment as Assistant to the CEO. We are both looking forward to making a positive difference, along with the Board, as we continue to build on this great momentum together.”
